** Friday, December 1st ** The Kalamazoo Concert Band will preform A Joyful Christmas at Miller Auditorium. Enjoy an evening of holiday music with some of Southwest Michigan's finest musicians. The songs begin at 8:00 pm -- please click HERE for more information and to purchase tickets.
** Saturday, December 2nd ** Friends of the Library will again hold their bimonthly used book sale at the Portage District Library! The sale will take place from 9:00 am though 3:00 pm in the lower level meeting rooms. This is a fantastic opportunity to stock up on some of your favorites for those cold winter nights!
** Sunday, December 3rd ** The Kalamazoo Nature Center will be hosting Holidays at the Homestead, a look at how 1800s settlers celebrated the holidays in the Michigan wilderness. Visit the historic DeLano Homestead between 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm for a peak into the past. ** Sunday, December 10th ** The Portage Market will be putting on a special Holiday Market from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, with local vendors and handmade items. Swing by and pick up a few unique gifts for your loved ones (or yourself!), and help support local business. Located at the Portage Market, 320 Library Ln.
** Friday, Dec 15th - Saturday, Dec 23rd ** For one week only, Binder Park Zoo will become a twinkling winter wonderland during their annual ZooLights period! Explore the lighted paths, get close to the cold-loving animals, enjoy a holiday beverage, and keep an eye open for Santa. The park will be open nightly 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm. ** Saturday, December 16th ** Just around the corner from Oak Brook, the Celery Flats Grain Elevator will hold a free informative class called Evergreens for the Holidays. Come learn about the evergreen trees and shrubs found in your own backyard, and create your own holiday decoration to take home. Class begins at 10:00 am.
